A B Color hosted a function to felicitate Mr.
Tipnis for completing 50 years in the photographic
industry. Mr. Tipnis is General Manager in A B Color.
The function was held on 8th April, 2004 at 8.00
p.m. at Hotel Quality Inn Parle International and
was well attended by luminaries from the photographic
industry. Given below is the speech of Mr. Ajaye
Ruia, Director A B Color Pvt. Ltd.
"Ladies and Gentlemen,
I warmly welcome you all to this function to
felicitate Mr. B. G. Tipnis for completing 50
years in the photographic industry.
I also particularly thank those who could make
it here inspite of today being shankashti which
is a day of fast and also being the eve of Good
Friday when evening masses are held.
It was only a couple of days ago we realized
that some people would be fasting till moonrise
which is 9.40 p.m. ?
Mr. Tipnis was born in 1929. He did B.S.c from
Xavier's college and joined Agfa (I) Ltd. in 1953
as Sales Representative. He retired in 1989 as
Regional Manager West Region. Then for 3 years
he was at ORWO handling HPF products. He joined
A.B. Color in 1992 and today he completes 50 years
in the industry
Lets give him a big hand.
Now, a brief background of his family members
:
Wife : Smt. Vaijayanti was a teacher till she
retired in 1992.
Daughter : Ms. Swati Chitnis is an actress in
Hindi & Marathi stage besides several Hindi
& Marathi TV serials.
Several awards.
Son : 1) Mr. Sameer expired on 15/4/2000 . He
was Director in Computers Co.
2) Mr. Chetan is in IA in commercial department.
I enjoy working with Mr. Tipnis. His positive
spirit backed by abundant energy is a source of
inspiration for us at A. B. Color. I have rarely
seen him loose his temper. I hope he is not taking
it out on his wife. He is very patient with figures,
which he analyses quite thoroughly and gives workable
solutions.
I now request Mr. Ramprasad Ruia to present a
Momento to Mr. Tipnis."

A Momento was presented and a cake was brought
in which said, "Best Wishes to Mr. Tipnis:
Open in dark room only".
Mr. Sudershan, chief of Prognosys, A. B. Color's
P.R. firm, took centre stage along with Mr.Tipnis.
Mr. Sudershan had done some research on Mr. Tipnis's
friends & colleagues. He called Mr. Tipnis
Ex. Boss. Highlights of the evening were the presentations
of Mr. Tipnis's family members which were very
touching.
Mr. P.V.N. Murty & Mr. Padmanaban of PHIL
(Photophone) fondly recalled some moments with
Mr. Tipnis.
The evening was then rounded off by dinner.
